For some inexplicable reason my mind is on loop with Grinch quotes this week. Either my sanity was finally pushed to it’s edge or it’s the little girl that lives in my heart reminding me love wins. Don’t give up.
“You can’t hurt Christmas Mr. Mayor.” - Sally Lou Who
For those of you who are having a tough week, I see you and I feel you.
It has been a week.
A good friend sent me a video this morning of her and her friends in Indiana lining up their Halloween pumpkins and smashing them with sledge hammers to let out some of the anger. Seems exceedingly more gratifying than a pillow and a fist.
My sledgehammer is a keyboard. I wrote this week. A LOT.
One of the many lessons being diagnosed with cancer taught me is to let go of things that don’t serve you.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the time to grieve. Be sad. Be angry. Be all the things.
Then, let it go. Refuel with joy. Someday very soon, the work will begin again.
“Now you listen to me, young lady! Even if we're horribly mangled, there'll be no sad faces on Christmas.”
What I’m savoring this week …
The Lack of Social Media & News
Ain’t nobody needs that kind of negativity right now.
Stay away from Instagram and TikTok for a bit. Turn off the news. If you can’t help yourself, delete the apps from your phone. Or at least turn off notifications. You can add them back in a couple of weeks when you start to feel your sanity return.
This Playlist
"Blast this Christmas music! It's joyful and triumphant."
Get your Christmas on with this fun, offbeat, Christmas playlist.
This Young Man Who Has the Right Idea
What Ed said. Because we’ve all spent enough of our lives talking and thinking about someone who isn’t worth another minute of our energy, soul or peace.
This Dick, Not That One
This Dick’s commercial is pure joy. Did you catch all the Christmas movies?
This Holiday Cheer
Smash those pumpkins and head straight to Christmas.
I told myself this year I would savor everything in November and wait until the day after Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas. And then November acted a fool and I broke out the prelit trees.
This Calm Moment
This meditation is really helping me this week.
This Retail Therapy
"Stupid. Ugly. Out of date. This is ridiculous. If I can't find something nice to wear I'm not going."
I added these Uggs to my closet and this navy sweater.
These Cookies
"Am I just eating because I'm bored?”
Brown Butter Rolo Chocolate Chip Cookies are a superb mood enhancer.
This Pillow Organization
JJ: Do we really need all these pillows?
Me: I’ll assume that’s rhetorical.
This Behind the Scenes Truth About The Holiday Cottage & Village
“Holiday who-be what-ee?”
The truth about that magical cottage in The Holiday.
This Comfort Food Recipe from Ina
"And they'll feast, feast, feast, feast. They'll eat their Who-Pudding and rare Who-Roast Beast.”
I’m savoring this comfort food from Ina Garten’s Modern Comfort Food cookbook.
This Netflix Show
OMG MARTHA. It is riveting. I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t this. We watched the first half last night and I can’t wait to hit send on this Savoring so I can’t watch the second half.
The Veterans Who’s Service Give Us All the Right to Vote
I am savoring each and every veteran and current member of the armed forces who sacrifices on my behalf and this country’s. Thank you for fighting for our democracy, our freedom and, no matter the outcome, our right to vote.
This is a beautiful tribe by Abbey Algiers. It’s full of interesting details of Veterans Day.
This Final Grinch Quote
“Bleeding hearts of the world unite.”
Tell me friends, what are you savoring this week?
Thank you so much for the mention. That cook book looks fab. I need to watch Martha too. Is it a drama or a documentary?
This was so much fun to read ❤️❤️ I have jumped straight to Christmas joy because I can take control of that! Love that Dick’s commercial. Thanks for starting my week with some joy😘
