I'm Tired, Showing Up and Loving The Open Road - The Savoring No. 036
"Why stay in one place, when you can see it all," she thought dreamily.
Hello from South Carolina!
Due to my driving schedule this week, your Savoring looks a little different. I will resume our regular programming next Sunday.
Early this evening I arrived in/on Hilton Head Island, SC. I’m here visiting and celebrating my dad. Tomorrow he turns 75.
I have officially driven coast to coast as of today. Pacific ocean to the Atlantic. I’ve traveled from San Diego through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia to get here.
I have loved every single mile. I finished one book and started another. I’ve listened to some of my favorite podcasts. I am a big fan of Diary of a CEO and Morning Brew Daily. A lot of you probably don’t know this, but I’m a sports junkie and I love listening to Dan Patrick for all my sports news and interviews. I love PIVOT and Prof G Markets (particularly on Monday when Scott is on).
I have listened to these playlists and albums on repeat. 90s and 2000 Hip Hop Bangers, Dreamsicle, 80s Ladies Dance Party and Jazz in the Background.
Note: Instead of my usual list, I’m mostly just sharing highlights and photos from this week on the road.

These Highlights
Marfa, Texas (I loved it just as much as I did when I visited in August.)
Wimberley, Texas (We stayed at the Wimberley Inn and fell in love.)
Blanco, Texas (The sleepiest - in the best way- town with OMG the BBQ)
Georgetown,Texas (I’m coming back in a few years and I’m bringing my piggy bank. I was clearly too busy enjoying the town to take photos because this is the only one I have. Never a bad idea to have an Otis photo. I can’t wait to go back and have breakfast here. I only noticed it as we were driving away. )
Finally seeing New Orleans (Even if it was only for 12 hours. I stayed at the historic Roosevelt Hotel and I’m pretty sure it was haunted AF but after an 11 drive day, I was too tired to care.)
Decatur, Georgia (Best coffee of the trip so far AND an oatmeal creme pie and quiche from B-Side and a farm to table dinner at Leon’s Full Service that I can’t stop thinking about).
This Sticker
I bought this sticker in Dripping Springs Texas. It was the last one and I promised it to Colt so now I need to find one for myself.
This Front Entry
What’s black and white and red all over? This gorgeous front porch in Blanco.
Please forgive me any typos. I’m too exhausted to double proof due to my driving schedule and hosting the 30 Day Happiness Challenge this week from the road. Speaking of which, we are only on day four so you can still jump in if you are feeling like you need some happiness in your life. We are having a lot of fun! Or you can wait until we start again in October after reading all the reviews from this one :)
As always, share, comment or like to let me know you’re here, reading and enjoying. What photo from my travels is your favorite so far? Besides Otis because obvi. So much more to come. Can you believe I still have three weeks of travel left!?
Love this! So inspired to try a xl road trip now I need a dog!!
Love the pics so much and inspired by you driving solo. I am not that strong to travel on my own cross country.
